Day 40 (lock down)

Saturday 2nd May - bike **** - Felixstowe to Falkenham Church – Sunny periods.

This looked the best day of the weekend to get out on the bikes with wall to wall sunshine forecast but it didn’t quite live up to expectations! The plan was to have a morning at home before taking a sandwich to visit ‘Emily’ at Falkenham Church. So, I did my exercises in the garden and when the sun showed its face it was really warm but there was a lot of cloud about. With lunch packed we left home at 12.50 and as I had a pic in todays EADT’s we headed to the Spar shop first before continuing down to Gulpher Road and the verges were lovely with masses of Cow paisley a much-underestimated plant! Then crossing Candlet Lane ending up at our favourite Falkenham Church whose graveyard is now full of Porage and cow paisley :) We had our lunch on the seat overlooking the fields down to the very quiet River Deben with pigeons and partridge in the field and Mag then spotted a Hare too, always great to see! After a peaceful break we carried on down to the River Deben always a treat with the tide fairly low and lots of mud but not many birds apart from several pairs of swans nesting in the dyke behind:) Then onto Felixstowe Ferry and home along the coast route past the golf course and home using even more roads we have not cycled before!
